13// minor task-fonts

During our research, analysing and looking at various digipaks, we learned the importance of good, clear and easy-to-read fonts - and how they can make and break a good digipak. For our digipak, taking into consideration Melanie Martinez and the song we chose, we commonly agreed to go for a more unique and unusual font for the title of the digipak.

After looking through the fonts, we narrowed it down to these three options:

BELY DISPLAY - first option:

We really liked the first option as it has some unusual and unique aspects to it, while still being very readable and easy to see and understand(even from a distance). We also liked that it can be used even with just a stroke and still be understandable

PRO: CON:

- easy to read. - slightly ordinary

- simple yet unique - the C looks a little weird

- customisable

GLODOK DISPLAY - second option:

We were really intrigued by the second option, because of how unique it is and how interesting the lettering is - we believe it really matches and fits with the artist and the song.

PRO: CON:

- unique - risky

- fits the song/artist - may be difficult to read

- attracts attention - some might not like it and be off put by it

GASTROMOND REGULAR - third option

We basically considered this our safe option. We like it because it gives us room to focus on the design of the digipak, so the title doesn't distract from that while also having some slightly unique aspects

PRO: CON:

- serif - doesnt fit song/artist

- some uniqueness - boring, might make the design too simple

- simple, doesn't distract

FINAL CHOICES:

- We decided to go for the middle ground option between really unique and really simple and choose the first font for the title of the digipak. We are confident that this font will allow us to experiment on the digipak without being worried that the font is "too much" while also fitting with the quirkiness of the artist.

- We still really loved how the second font looks, so we want to use it in the beginning of our music video as a sort of "title page"

We decided that for the back of the digipak we want to put a quote that we found that we consider fits really well with the whole vibe of the song and artist.

"...But the carousel never stops turning, you can't get off.."

For this we knew we wanted a more handwritten font, to play along with the childish aspect that Melanie uses in most of her social media content and marketing.

We found this font which we immediately loved and believe it fits perfectly.

The font has two variations - we love both of them but after some thinking we realised that the second version (filled in) might be confusing and hard to read.
